How do I clean a coir doormat?
Shake your coir mat vigorously to dislodge loose dirt, or vacuum it using a brush attachment. For a deeper clean, take the mat outside and beat it firmly against a wall or railing. Avoid soaking coir mats in water — excessive moisture can weaken the natural fibers over time. If the mat gets wet from rain, stand it upright and allow it to air-dry fully in sunlight before laying it flat again.
Are your doormats non-slip?
Our rubber-backed coir mats feature a molded rubber base that grips hard flooring surfaces firmly. Our solid rubber doormats are also designed to stay in place on wet pavement or tile. For extra grip on very smooth floors — such as polished marble or hardwood — we recommend adding a thin rug pad beneath any mat.
Do you ship outside the continental United States?
We offer free shipping to all addresses in the continental USA. For deliveries to Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, or Canada, please contact us directly for a shipping quote before placing your order.
What is the difference between a coir doormat and a rubber doormat?
Coir mats are made from natural coconut fiber and excel at scraping dry dirt, mud, and debris off shoe soles. They are the best choice for most outdoor front doors under a covered porch or overhang. Rubber doormats are synthetic, fully waterproof, and better suited for exposed outdoor conditions, rainy or snowy climates, and entryways where hose-down cleaning is convenient. Many of our customers use both together — a coir mat outside and a rubber mat just inside the door.
Can I use a coir doormat indoors?
Yes, though coir performs best in covered outdoor areas. Indoors, coir works well in mudrooms, utility entries, and laundry rooms. For living spaces, dining rooms, and bedrooms, our jute entryway rugs and washable Donier rugs offer a softer look and feel while still being highly durable.
How long do your doormats last?
With proper care, a high-quality coir doormat from our collection will last three to five years in an outdoor setting. Our Tuffcor and Artisanal Royal Collection mats — made from denser, thicker coir — can last significantly longer. Rubber doormats are virtually indefinite in lifespan when kept away from prolonged direct UV exposure.
Can I personalize a doormat?
Yes. We offer a full range of personalized doormats, including custom monogram mats and personalized text mats. These make exceptional housewarming gifts, wedding gifts, and realtor closing gifts. Visit our Personalized Mats collection to design your own.
What makes your mats eco-friendly?
Our coir and jute mats are made from 100% natural plant fibers — sustainably harvested agricultural byproducts that are fully biodegradable at end of life. No petroleum-based synthetic fibers are used in our natural collections. We are committed to offering home décor that is beautiful without a lasting environmental footprint.
